With flying colors

Nov. 7, 2018 — Siuslaw School District held a Color-a-Thon on Saturday at Siuslaw Middle School, where more than 450 students and community members ran or walked a 5K among clouds of thrown and sprayed colored powder.

Thanks to registration fees and business sponsorships, the district was able to raise $10,508.45 with the event. Florence Community PTA held a similar event in 2016. “It was awesome, and such a great community experience,” said this year’s organizer, Crystal Osburn.

Because of those community partnerships, every kid who wanted to was able to run in the Color-a-Thon and experience getting covered in colorful powder. According to Osburn, Oregon’s rain helped with most of the cleanup.
