Aug. 7, 2019 — Wilma Louise (Seits) Austin was called by the angels while she slept on July 26, 2019.
She was born to Victor Seits and Alta Nora (Prindel) Seits, on April 16, 1928, the middle child of five.
She lived with her mother and siblings in various locations in Oregon, spending several years in Alsea before moving to Deadwood, and finally settling in Canary, Ore.
Wilma was a 1946 graduate of Siuslaw High School in Florence.
On June 8, 1946 she married Virgil (Jim) Austin and lived and worked on the Austin ranch at Canary until 1985. They then moved to Elmira, Ore., where she lived until 2014 when she moved to Springfield.
Wilma will be remembered for many things including hard work, sewing skills, a big heart, amazing strength and humor, plus pinochle and cribbage trainings that she shared with her children and grandchildren — even though she won most of the time.
Wilma was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Anderson, in 1985; her husband Virgil (Jim) Austin in 2011; and her siblings: Helen Hockema, Mabel (Bedell) Dodge, Gale Seits and Joan Beers.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Karla and Ron Miller; son and daughter-in-law Ray and Rochelle Austin; grandchildren Teresa (Anderson) and Chris Page, Kendra Austin, Dylan and Kaylie Austin, and James Pike; great-grandchildren: MacKenzie Page, Cobie Page and Bailey Page; and great-great-grandchild Henley Harvey.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, 3996 Highway 101 in Florence.
