‘Where Art Thou?’ Community Invitational Art Show announces winners

March 9, 2019 — Backstreet Gallery is pleased to announce the award winners for the “Where Art Thou?” February and March Community Invitational Exhibit in Galleries One and Five at the Florence Events Center (FEC).

Judging was done by award-winning artist Ronald Hildenbrand. The awards were given at a reception for the artists, friends, family members and the Florence community. Ribbons were awarded in several categories.

Winners in the 2-D categories were: Don Mathis, first place for “Crustacean;” John Leasure, second place for “Wave Length;” Kary Keppol, third place for “Lion and Mouse;” and Caroline Estill, honorable mention for “Are We There Yet?”

In the Photography category, Joyce Koebein took first place for “The Fall.” Second and third place went to Ed O’Rourke for “Long Term Parking” and “Beach Barnacles.” Honorable mention was awarded to John McMahan for “Lower Kentucky Creek Falls.”

Winners in the 3-D categories were: Jessalynn Keppol, first place — as well as Best of Show — for “Tree #1;” Lorna Marie Trujillo, second place for “Enchanted Hats;” Kristen Anderson, third place for “On Fire;” and Tricia Hayden, honorable mention for “Low Tide.”

The community is invited to come to the FEC and view all the amazing artworks and place their vote for the People’s Choice Award. Winners of this award, as well as Jessalynn Keppol, winner of the “Best of Show” award, will have the opportunity to exhibit at Backstreet Gallery in June 2019.
