DWIGGINS—Wesley J. (Jim) Dwiggins 89 of Florence, Ore. went to be with the Lord early on Sunday, October 14, 2021, with his loving wife Sharron, of almost 35 years, by his side. He died from a fall with damage to his brain. The son of a pastor and a loving and giving Christian man who put others first, his sister, Esther, liked to say, "He was up to something if he had a twinkle in his eye."
Jim was a veteran, serving in the US Navy. He was born June 6, 1932, in Boulder, Colo.
Jim was formerly married to Lois Houser, with whom he had three fine children: Dean Arthur Dwiggins of Missoula, Mont.; Jerry Edwin Dwiggins of California, who preceded him in death; and Marsha Diane (Dwiggins) Horel of Rudyard, Mont.; as well as one child who died in miscarriage. They were married for 35 years and then divorced.
Jim is survived by his second wife for 35 years, Sharron Marie Dwiggins and her 3 children, Wendy Jean Jones-Talley and Denise Marie Post, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Brett Allen Krahn of Centerton, Ark. Jim is also survived by his only living sister, Esther Hatch, brother-in-laws Eldon McComb and Howard Harvey, all from Citrus Heights, Calif. Preceding him in death were sisters Betty Harvey and Mary McComb and brother-in-law Jim Hatch, all from California.
Jim is survived also by numerous nieces and nephews and grand and great-grandchildren.
He earned an Associate in Arts Degree in California, intending on becoming a teacher, but ended up working for the railroad in California for 34 years before retiring from a back injury.
He lived the first part of his life in California and the last half in Oregon, ending by the ocean.
The internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date. Burns's Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
