WARRILOW—Lydia Jane Warrilow, 97, passed away peacefully at home with family on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020.
She fought heart disease for a number of years before her heart failed.
Lydia was born on a farm in Saskatchewan, Canada.
In her late teens, she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she met her prince charming, Henry.
They married and, soon after, began raising a family while working part time at Eatons. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing with her Henry to the big band era music, canning, baking and keeping house with three kids.
The family moved to Oregon in 1963 and Lydia worked and retired from Meier and Frank. In her later years, she enjoyed getting dirt under her fingernails in the garden and flower beds.
She also enjoyed trying her luck at a casino once and awhile.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Fiala, and mother, Mary; sisters Rose, Sue, Ethel and Mildred; brothers Joe, Nelson, Ron and James; her husband, Henry; and daughter, Janice.
She is survived by her sons: David and his wife Nancy, Bryan and his wife Rene; and her sister, Marion.
Lydia dearly loved her grandchildren: Kim, Dana, Michael, Brandyn, Bryan, Landon and Griffin; her great-grandchildren: Brendyn, Faith, Bryson, Aiden, Ava, Addie and Aspen, cherishing each and every moment she spent with them.
She also loved her many nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada: Myron, Kathy and Jack, Sandra, Win, Patrice and Jeff, with whom she kept in touch with along with her many friends in Gresham.
She is a lady we all loved and whose life we can celebrate.
She will be missed.
We wish to thank Bristol Hospice — especially Lisa and her team — for their caring support.
In lieu of flowers, we know Lydia would appreciate your gift to a heart program of your choice.
Services will be scheduled at a later date.
Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
