Viks fall to Eagles, Crown King and Queen

Oct. 10, 2018 — The OSAAToday No. 8-ranked Santiam Christian Eagles used a one-two punch with quarterback senior Luke Janssen and freshman Ely Kennel to hand Siuslaw it’s fifth loss during last Friday’s homecoming game at Hans Petersen Field.

The Viks went scoreless throughout the first three quarters before stringing together a 63-yard drive in the fourth quarter that put Siuslaw on the 1-yard line.

From there, freshman runningback Camp LaCouture forced his way into the end zone for the touchdown.

Unfortunately, the Viks’ kick for the extra point failed, providing the final score, 36-6.

The Eagles claimed a total of 369 yards, compared to Siuslaw's 78.

Viking freshman quarterback Elijah Blankenship went 5-for-17 in passing, for a total of 32 yards from the air.

on the ground, Blankenship carried the ball 7 times for 20 yards.

During halftime, the crowd got the chance to see this year’s homecoming court, as well as the announcement of the 2018 queen and king.

Freshman royalty included Hayden Muller and Henry Muller; sophomores were Savannah Morris and Liam McClellan; juniors were Bryn Clement and Brandon Jensen; and this year's queen and king were seniors Kaitlyn Snook and Ethan Hack.

Friday, the Vikings will be on the road at Pleasant Hill.

Siuslaw's next home game will be Oct. 26, when the Vikings host Sutherlin.

Kick-off for both games is set for 7 p.m.
