Vikings land Falcons in nailbiter

Trent Reavis (above) led Siuslaw with 14 points

It took every second of last Friday’s nailbiter between the Vikings’ and Falcons’ boys teams at Elmira, where Siuslaw held a 12-point lead that dwindled to a 1-point deficit late in the fourth quarter following a three-pointer by the Falcons.

In the final seconds, senior post Trent Reavis got the ball on a dish from senior Jared Brandt. Working the paint, Reavis was able to score on a quick bucket for a narrow 45-44 win. Reavis led all scoring with 14 points, followed by 11 points from senior Kyle King and 10 points from fellow senior Jake Hickson.

Earlier that night, the Lady Vikings kept things close during the first half with a 26-26 tie entering the third quarter. But a late rally by the Falcons left Siuslaw trailing by 12 at the final buzzer, 54-42. Freshmen Lindsey Long and Brea Blankenship led scoring with 12 points apiece for Siuslaw.

This Thursday, both teams kick off a three-day tourney in Harrisburg.
