March 2, 2019 — This season of Siuslaw High School bowling came to a successful end last weekend, with both Vikings teams competing on the lanes for state competition.
The Lady Vikings competed at the Oregon State High School Bowling championship held at Firebird Lanes.
The tournament started by the teams bowling 30 games of Baker-style games, with 24 games on Saturday and six more Sunday morning.
The combined scores for each team determined where they were seeded for the double elimination round held Saturday.
After the 30 games, both Siuslaw teams moved into the next round as the No. 10 seed within their division.
With both teams having a 2-2 record in the elimination round, each ended the tournament with a respectable eighth-place finish in the state.
“Both teams went into the tournament with the goals to win,” said Siuslaw bowling program coordinator Dusty Anderson. “Even though they came up a little short of their goal, it was still a successful tournament and season.”
With only one senior on the boy’s team and just two seniors on the girls’ team, “The future of the bowling teams are in good hands,” added Anderson.
