Vaccine clinics start this week at the FEC

Walk in clinics will offer new Omicron-specific boosters

Sept. 13, 2022 - Starting this week, a series of walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be held at the Florence Events Center(FEC) that will include the new, reformulated Omicron-specific booster shots which were recently approved and distributed throughout the country.

The clinics, which are held in coordination between the City of Florence, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and Lane County, will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout Sept. and the last week of Oct. Anyone six-months or older are eligible for a vaccine, and no appointment is necessary.

“With fall and winter approaching with circulation of COVID-19 anticipated to increase, when most of us will spend more time indoors, the availability of safe and effective vaccine boosters offers us strong protection against the worst outcomes of COVID-19, including severe illness, hospitalizations and death,” Dean Sidelinger, M.D. MSEd, health officer and state epidemiologist at OHA said last week.

Vaccinations are available at no cost, available to anyone with or without health insurance.

Residents are encouraged to bring their vaccination record cards with them. However, if their cards are lost or full, replacement cards will be available at the clinic.

The FEC is located at 715 Quince St. in Florence, and will be open the following times:

  • Tuesday, 9/13 & Wednesday, 9/14 1pm-6pm each day
  • Tuesday, 9/20 & Wednesday, 9/21 1pm-6pm each day
