Jan. 8, 2019 — During last weekend’s Bend Invite, Siuslaw had three wrestlers bring home titles from the large, multi-divisional meet. Among them were freshmen Yoskar Delamora in the 106-lb. bracket and Mason Buss at 120 lbs., along with junior Elijah LaCosse at 145 lbs.
The Viks also got a second-place medal from 152-lb. junior Ryan Jennings, who led in the finals match before getting pinned.
Meanwhile, senior heavyweight Matthew Horrillo managed a pair of takedowns for a come-from-behind win in the consolation finals and third-place overall.
In the girls division, sophomore Hayden Muller took second in the 135-lb. bracket, with her on-ly loss coming in the championship bout against Charlie Stewart of Bend — one of the top girl wresters in the state.
Tonight, Siuslaw hosts Gold Beach and Sutherlin in wrestling duals, beginning with Gold Beach and Siuslaw at 6 p.m., followed by a match-up between the Vikings and Bulldogs.
Gold Beach and Sutherlin face-off before that at 5 p.m.
The Viks will then return to the road, first at the Sutherlin Invitational this Saturday, then at Siletz next Thursday, Jan. 16.
After that, the Vikings will host their annual Nick Lutz Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18.
