Sydney Neeley

Sydney Neeley passed away on August 27, 2022

NEELEY - Sydney Neeley was born in Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin on Nov 12, 1934 to Lyle and Frances Weigel. She spent her early years in Patch Grove, Wisconsin before moving to Tillamook, Oregon in 1950. She graduated from Tillamook High School in 1952. While living in Tillamook, Sydney and her family listened to Gospel Meetings, which started a life-long love for God and his Word.

In 1953, she enrolled in Oregon Technology Institute to study Laboratory Science. While there, she met future Husband Del Neeley. They were married in Arcata, California (near her parents home) on March 21, 1956.

Del and Sydney lived a short time in Astoria, OR before making their home in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They welcomed daughter Martha in 1958 and Son Marcus in 1961.  Sydney had many talents and interests, including 4H (as a leader), homemaking, gardening, swimming, genealogy, and gathering friends and family for potlucks. Her love of genealogy led her to write 12 books on family history. Del and Sydney traveled together throughout the US and also internationally. They visited Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Washington DC, Japan, Korea, Canada, Mexico, and Australia, among many locations.

Del and Sydney retired to Florence, OR in 2001, where they spent many happy years. Sydney continued her love of gardening – turning a scrub patch into a beautiful back patio garden.

Sydney passed away on August 27, 2022 surrounded by family. She is survived by Husband Del, daughter Martha, son Marcus, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by two brother-in laws, a sister-in law, niece, and granddaughter.  A memorial Celebration of her life will be held on September 10th and 11am at Burns’s Riverside  Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
