Aug. 17, 2019 — Lane Blood Works and the Siuslaw School District held a blood drive Wednesday at Siuslaw High School. The request for donations took place at the same time as registration for fall classes and the event was coordinated by members of the Siuslaw High School HOSA Chapter. HOSA, a club for future health professionals, provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation and recognition for students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. Lane Blood Works pledged to give the Siuslaw HOSA chapter $500 for every 25 people who donated. According to Siuslaw HOSA Treasurer Hannah Waller, money raised from the event will go to registration for competitions, equipment needed by the chapter and travel fare for the students.
