April 27, 2019 — Siuslaw’s momentum toward district continued Tuesday at the Sky-Em Junior Varsity track meet in Elmira, were sophomore Andrea Osbon won both the girls’ shot put and discus. Osbon launched the steel ball 34 feet, 1.75 inches. Taking third was senior Madison Reynolds, who landed third at 31-6.75.
Osbon went on to claim the discus after clearing 94-1. Siuslaw senior Hailee Edgerly was third at 82-4, with Reynolds finishng fourth (80-9.)
The throws were Siuslaw’s strong suit at Elmira, with sophomore Skylar Loomis throwing a personal best of 119-9 in the discus to win the boys’ division. Junior Ryan Rendon-Padilla placed a close second at 119-7.
Rendon-Padilla went on to win the javelin with a mark of 182-5, and freshman Rhys Fleming launched a PR to place second at 138-10. Sophomore Liam McClellan completed a sweep of the javelin, finishing third with his own PR at 126-10.
Junior hurler Matthew Horillo landed a throw of 40-4 for second place and a new personal best.
On the track, sophomore Jaxson Jensen won the 800-meter event in 2:13.88, then took fourth in the 1,500 meters after running a PR time of 4:42.49.
Senior Davina Galli won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 54.84, and also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.29.
In the pole vault, freshman Kayden Lane cleared 9-6 for the win.
Today, Siuslaw will be at the 55th annual Centennial Invitational in Gresham, beginning at 11 a.m.
Next Friday, Siuslaw will compete at the Cottage Grove Invitational. Events will begin at 4 p.m.
