Feb. 19, 2020 — Sandra Johnson Omlid died peacefully on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, 2020, in her home after five months of living with pancreatic cancer.
Sandra was born Sept. 15, 1951, in Albany, Ore., to Henry and Nancy Johnson.
She grew up in Florence, graduated from Siuslaw High School and attended college at Oral Roberts University. She backpacked in Norway, England and several other European countries with her sister, Kathy.
Sandra returned to Europe, living in London, (working in the immigration office of the Iranian embassy) then in Paris to study art at the Sorbonne, and briefly in Poland behind the Iron Curtain in 1974.
Sandra received a degree from the Bassist Institute of Interior Design and started her own design business in Florence, which she operated for 40 years.
Sandra always loved and excelled in art, and became known and respected for her beautiful Oregon coast scenic paintings.
Her Christian faith encompassed every part of her life, and brought color and light to her experiences, relationships and art.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Omlid; and five siblings: Pat Sapp, Bart Johnson, Kathy Stone, Dennis Johnson and Randall Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at Cross Road Assembly of God Church, 1380 10th St., on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., with a reception following.
