Rotary keeps it Cool at the Coast
14th annual Cool at the Coast Golf Tournament is a success
On Aug. 5 golfers from around the area converged on Ocean Dunes Golf Course for the Rotary Club of Florence’s 14th annual Cool at the Coast Golf Tournament.
132 players spread out over 33 teams competed in the event.
"Thanks to all our sponsors, the golf teams and volunteers who have helped create hope in the world to end polio ... sooner than later,” Rotary President Sally Wantz said.
Since the first tournament 14 years ago, the Rotary golf tournaments have funded almost 160,000 polio vaccinations. The tournament gives $4,000 annually to the Rotary Polio Plus Program, which funds more than 10,000 doses of the polio vaccine.
The tournament also raises money to help the Rotary Club with projects and scholarships for the children of Florence and Mapleton.
Florence Rotary extended thanks to Three Rivers Casino Resort, Ocean Dunes Golf Links and PeaceHealth Peace Harbor for financial assistance.
