Rodney Wayne Goble
Rodney Wayne Goble of Warrenton, Oregon stepped into heaven on July 12, 2023, at his home with his wife, (Vicki Goble) by his side.
Rod was born in Longview, Washington on April 18th, 1947. He grew up in Mapleton, Oregon,
and graduated High School in 1965. He attended College at Western Oregon University in Monmouth Oregon, where he ran cross county and studied history. Rod ultimately left college to pursue his passion for the outdoors and a career in logging.
He worked for over 45 years as a Logger and as a Hook Tender before retiring. After retirement Rod worked for Clatsop County as a flagger. His vision of a “relaxing retirement” was a testament to who he was as a man – a hard worker who was steadfast in his passion to be outside.
Throughout the years he was known for his generosity falling trees for his family, friends, and neighbors, no matter how tired he was. Even the need for a new hip couldn’t keep him from climbing a tree. Rod was very sociable and made friends wherever he went. He was kind, and you could always count on him to give it to you straight. He was generous in sharing his wisdom as he seemed to have it all figured out. Even as his health declined, he put all he had into whatever job was at hand.
“I don’t care if you’re going to be a ditch digger, but you had better be the best ditch digger there ever was” – Rodney Goble
Rod loved sports and was extremely competitive. He was a huge fan of the University of Oregon football team, “Go Ducks”! There was always a cribbage board out at any family gathering, where he would be found defending his title, while also sharing strategic tips. When the Trivial Pursuit game came out…that was right up Rod’s alley. Out of the blue you would hear him say, “Sweetheart”, for a wedgy…What was????” His mind kept on going after we were all done playing, analyzing, and replaying the game.
He was the greatest of all time…Husband, Father, Papa, Friend and some may say a “Legend” in the industry.
Preceded in death by Bonnie Goble (Father) and Phillis Goble (Mother).
He is survived by his “Sweetheart, The Love of his Life”, Vicki Goble, Sister Sue Goble Stauffer, 8 Children, 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He will always be remembered, loved, and missed by many, although his wisdom and spirit will live on.
There will be a graveside service at Oceanview Cemetery at 575 SW 18th. St, Warrenton Oregon 97146 on Tuesday 7/25/2023 at 1:00PM. The family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life to follow.
