NORDAHL – Richard Irving Nordahl passed away on June 6, 2022.
Richard was born in Claremore, Okla., on Sept. 16, 1934. His family moved to Westlake, Ore., in 1945 and he attended the Siuslaw Schools.
After high school, he joined the US Army and served a tour of duty in Germany and as Company Clerk in Ft. Riley, Kansas, until 1956, where he was honorably discharged.
He married Carolyn Lockwood of Cushman, Ore., in 1959. They made their home in Westlake before purchasing their present home in 1966 in the Cleawox area, where they lived until the present time.
The couple raised three sons: Gerald Allen of Morgantown, KY, Robert Richard and Perry Lee, both of Florence, Ore. He also fathered Phillip Thomas, deceased. He had one grandson, James Michael, and three great grandchildren, Robert, Marshal and Natasha, all of Lebanon. Richard is also survived by his brother Elden Nordahl and his wife Marijo, and his sister Betty Williamson and her husband Lee, plus many nieces and nephews.
Richard was a lifelong sportsman and enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing. He taught the young men in his life to love the sports as well.
He loved to travel the United States, cruising and visiting exotic locations, with Fiji being his favorite. Being out in his yard enjoying his fish pond and his two cats were relaxing and enjoyable to him also.
Per his request, there will be no formal services but instead, a private gathering of his family at his favorite spot at Booth on Siltcoos Lake.
