Reavis hands over one crown, claims two others

Reavis and the Titans will next compete at the Northwest Athletic Conference

May 19, 2019 — Before returning to relinquish his 2018 King of the Coast crown during last night’s Rhododendron Coronation, the 2018 Siuslaw High School graduate spent last Saturday at the Southern Region Track and Field Championships on the Lane Community College campus in Eugene obtaining a different type of crown.

Two actually.

Reavis, a freshman at LCC and member of the Titans’ mens track and field team, won the shot put (45 feet, 8.5 inches) and discus (146-10.25), and also placed fourth in the hammer throw (131-3.5) and was sixth in the javelin (162-8.75), helping the Titans to win the meet and claim their own crown with 266 points. Along the way, Reavis set personal collegiate records in all of the throws except for the shot put, which he currently holds Siuslaw’s No. 2 spot on the record books, as well as the javelin. He remains the record-holder in the discus at Siuslaw.

Reavis and the Titans will next compete at the Northwest Athletic Conference championships this Monday and Tuesday, May 20 and 21, at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham — ironically enough, just days after seven Vikings athletes will have finished competing for 4A state titles at Mt. Hood CC this weekend.
