Feb. 1, 2020 — Mr. Raymond Earl Dunning died on Jan. 18, 2020, at his home in Florence, Ore.
He was predeceased by his wife, Effie.
Ray, a 30-year resident of Florence, was born in Gold Beach, Ore., on Dec. 11, 1927. He graduated in 1945 from Roseburg Senior High School in Roseburg, Ore.
After high school, he served in the United States Army and Army Reserves until 1957. In July 1954, he married Mrs. Effie Dickens, a widow from Sutherlin, Ore.
Raymond worked as a groceryman from the age 15 until he retired in 1990. In his retirement years, he worked as a Mobile Missionary throughout the Western United States and for 20 years as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Doris Garrett of Florence; his children: Gilbert Dunning of Florence, Douglas Dickens of Oklahoma, Claudia Mattingly of Minnesota and Alice Ledee of Washington; 13 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Ray is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 beginning at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Nazarene, 1536 12th St. in Florence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Habitat for Humanity in Florence.
