Liberty Belle (Haines) Phillips, formerly of Florence, passed away Jan. 10, 2017. Liberty was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Astoria, Ore., on the day WW1 ended. Her grandfather thought she should be named Liberty Belle because of that.
She married Gerald Phillips in 1937, and was a homemaker. Liberty and Gerald enjoyed camping and deer hunting with the family. She was able to stay at home with her dog, Morty like she wanted .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Phillips; her daughter-in-law , Suzzann Phillips; and grandson Carl Phillips.
She is survived by her sons: Gerald Phillips and Ernest Phillips and his wife Ginger Phillips; grandchildren Jerry and Sheryl Phillips, Tony and Melissa Phillips, and Cheryl and Dave Waddington; greatgrandchildren Kevin and Lindsey Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Jeri Lynn and Kyle Busenitz, Katie and Cameron Burke, Cody and Mickie Waddington and Cole Waddington; greatgreat-grandchildren Kyler and Gracie Busenitz and Sutton Burke.
Liberty will be buried next to Gerald at Alsea, Ore., during a graveside service at the Alsea Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 21, beginning at noon.
Burns's Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
