May 19, 2019 — Patricia Ann Ragan, 91, of Florence, passed away May 6, 2019.
“Patsy” was born on Nov. 22, 1927, at Pacific Christian Hospital in Eugene, Ore., to Osman and Margaret Hickok Sullivan. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1946 and lived in Lorane, Ore., Colorado and Arkansas before returning to Florence in 1995.
She married Burton Ragan in Eugene on July 12, 1946, and was happily married to the love of her life for 50 years until his death on Sept. 6, 1996, in Florence.
Patsy worked as an LPN and as an RN in the acute coronary care unit at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Hot Springs, Ark., after graduating from Garland County Community College.
She enjoyed reading, quilting and helping others. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Florence.
She was preceded in death by her eldest son, James, on Jan. 25, 2007, and by her brother, James F. “Monty” Sullivan, of Florence.
She is survived by her sons: David (Becki) of Florence, and Steve (Tina) of Olathe, Kans.; her a daughter-in-law, Susan Swartz Ragan of Salida, Colo.; her granddaughter, Jennifer Ragan of Boston, Mass.; her grandson, Alex Ragan (Hope) of Olathe, Kans.; great-grandson, Will Ragan, also of Olathe, Kans.; step-granddaughter Alison Selle Jeffrey of Pueblo West, Colo.; and step-grandson, John Selle (Maribeth) of Weymouth, Mass.
No services are planned.
Inurnment will be at Pacific Sunset Cemetery in Florence through the direction of Burns’s Riverside Chapel.
The family is very appreciative of the wonderful care she received through Brightstar Care, PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Hospital, PeaceHealth Hospice and at Hubbard’s Retreat in Florence.
