GOODRICH—Owen “Pete” Goodrich passed away February 20, 2022, in Florence, Ore., at the age of 90 years.
Pete was born in Tomahawk, Wis., on Jan. 5, 1932, and moved to Florence as a young man. He worked in the lumber industry prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. After his tour of duty, he returned to the area, where he made his home and raised his four children.
Pete held positions at International Paper and Davidson Industries, as well as being a volunteer firefighter working his way up to captain.
He was also well known for his painting talents and painted many of the homes in the area and industrial buildings.
Survivors include his four children, Randy (Debbie) of Springfield, Ore.; Julia (Bill) Craig, Melissa (Tony) Phillips and Melinda (Gary) Dietz, all of Florence. Pete is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, which were a great source of joy.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Spruce Point Assisted Living and Bristol Hospice for their support to Pete and their families. It was very much appreciated.
A celebration of life is planned for Pete at Burns Riverside Chapel, 2765 Kingwood St., Florence, Oregon on April 2, 2022, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request you donate to the charity of your choice.
