Jan. 2, 2019 — Crews from Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue, Western Lane Ambulance and the Florence Police Department responded to a residential fire at 451 Myeena Loop around 10 a.m. Sunday morning. Firefighters arrived to find a doublewide mobile home was fully involved and threatening to spread to neighboring residences.

The occupant of the home, Chrisalene Cooper, was able to get to safety after a neighbor kicked in the rear door and awakened her, then helped her to safety. The fire spread quickly through the residence but fire crews were able to knock down the blaze within approximately 10 minutes of arrival. Firefighters were also able to protect the neighboring home located less than 50 feet away.
