MWL recognizes six Mapleton athletes


Nov. 10, 2018 — During Mapleton’s recent athletic awards night, a total of six athletes in football and volleyball were recognized by coaches in the Mountain West League for their efforts this past fall.

On the gridiron, sophomore JJ Neece received honors on both sides of the football after being named to the Mountain West’s First Team All-League roster on defense as a linebacker, as well on offense as a quarterback.

His performance also earned him the league’s top award as the Mountain West’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Joining him in being recognized was junior Nate Neece, who also received two nods — first as Second Team Offense as an offensive lineman, then as Third Team Defense at defensive end.

Senior Evan Moso was honored in three cataegories, beginning wuth Second Team Offense as a runningback. He was also named Third Team Defense as a utility player as well as for his efforts as a punt and kick-off returner.

On the volleyball court, senior Erin Michael was named to the league’s First Team roster, with fellow senior Heather McMaster-Wills receiving Third Team recognition.

In addition, Honorable Mention was given to senior Brittany Wilson and sophomores Briena Jensen and Emily Stevens.
