Nov. 28, 2018 — Mitchell Wallace Wilson, 93, passed away on Nov. 21, 2018.
He was born in Pullman Wash., July 15, 1925, to Chester Randolph Wilson and Gladys Seibert Wilson.
He married Lucille Rosalee Carter on June 29, 1951, in Florence, Ore.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17, and was in five major campaigns, including the landing on Omaha Beach, Northern France, Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes Forest, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He was in the 3rd Armored Infantry Spearhead Division. He was a staff sergeant, a marksman, squad leader and in the Military Police.
Mitchell retired from Lane County Public Works, where he was an equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Lucille; his son Randy and wife Robin; his daughter Cindi and husband Ben; his son Brad and fiance’ Lisa; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
At the request of Mitchell, a private family service will be held.
Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
