LINDSAY—Ronald James Lindsay passed away July 25, 2021.
Ron (Ronnie) was born in Custer, South Dakota to Frank Sr. Lindsay and Mary Todd Lindsay on Feb. 22, 1938. Frank Sr. passed away when Ron was 12 years old and his mother remarried to Gale Burkart. All preceded Ron’s death.
Ron grew-up in Sodaville, Ore., with his parents and Gram until 1958. He had four siblings: Frank Lindsay, Mary Jo Hibbert, Larry Lindsay and Farrell Lindsay. Farrell currently resides in Eugene, Ore., as the last living sibling.
During his time at Lebanon High School, Ron worked for U & R Pontiac as a detailer and spent summers as a crew boy for the Linn County Fire Patrol.
He graduated in 1956 and married Veryl Wollam in 1958. Ron began full-time work with Linn County Fire Patrol which took the young couple to Quartzville, Sweet Home, Mill City and the Santiam Guard Station on The Little North Fork in Mehama, Ore. During this time, they had Barbra Lindsay Griesenauer (John), Randal James Lindsay 1960- 2014 (Laurie), Jodene Lindsay Huddleston (Jon), and Susan Lindsay Raum Kizer (Wayne).
Ron volunteered for the Mehama Fire Department and Boy’s Little League.
In the summer of 1974, he accepted a position with the Oregon Department of Forestry working in Florence and volunteering for the local fire department.
Ron divorced in 1975.
In 1998, Ron retired after 43 combined years with the Oregon Department of Forestry and Linn County Fire Patrol. He married Marilyn Inukai in 1979, who stayed by his side till his death. Marilyn’s children include Shannon Inukai-Cuffee (Cortlandt), Scott Inukai (Randi), and Stacie Inukai-Center (Shane). After retirement, Ron and Marilyn moved from Florence to Lake Havasu and Las Vegas before finally settling in Meridian, Idaho.
Ron leaves a combined total of 13-grandchildren, all who cherished and loved their Grandpa.
Clover Dale Funeral Home in Boise, Idaho, was in charge of arrangements.
