Lillian Bradley-Horning-Culver

Dec. 3, 2019 — Lillian Bradley-Horning-Culver passed away Nov. 23, 2019. She passed peacefully, surrounded by children and grandchildren.

She was deeply cherished by her family and will be missed terribly.

She was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Elida New Mexico, to Melsina Miller Bradley and Walter Bradley.

Lillian lived the first 16 years on the family ranch. She worked hard on the ranch at home and on the land. Her family, including her parents and three brothers — James, Andrew and Chester — moved to Yoncalla, Ore., in 1944, then to Alpine.

She graduated high school in 1947.

She married Julian R. Horning in 1947. Six children were born from this union: Richard, Carol, Theresa, Rosemary, Dorothy and Anthony.

She and Julian later divorced.

Lillian always provided for her children without help from anyone, except for her mother, Melsina. Lillian worked in nursing homes, owned and ran a restaurant, carwash, was a night watchperson, etc.

She was absolutely selfless.

In 1973, she married Edson Earl Culver and they were blessed with two daughters, Laurie Ann and Marci Renee. In 1982, Lillian and Ed moved their family to Florence, Ore., and later retired there.

Lillian was a member of Our Lady of the Dunes Catholic Church. She and Ed attended mass there and enjoyed going  to lunch and taking long drives after church.

Lillian lost Ed to Alzheimer’s on Nov. 12, 2016.

Lillian lived out her life in her home near Florence, always surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She thrived until about one week before passing on Nov. 23.

Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
