May 20, 2020 — Library Director Meg Spencer has announced that the Oregon State Library is working with the governor’s office and Oregon Health Authority to finalize some library-specific guidance for reopening. In the meantime, the library’s phased approach will start with most of the staff back in the building on a staggered schedule, beginning this on May 18.
The library will begin accepting returns of books, DVDs, and other materials checked out before the library closed next Tuesday, May 26, and Friday, May 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring returns to the back (west) doors of the library. There will be bins for returns. All returns will be quarantine for a period of time before being checked in.
The following week, the library will begin curbside pick-up service of holds and books requested by patrons. The staff are currently working on the procedures to make this happen smoothly and safely for everyone.
There will be more information about curbside pickup in upcoming Tidings columns, at www.siuslawlibrary.info, on the library’s Facebook page and posted on the library’s doors.
Also, beginning this week, the library’s phones will be answered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to any questions you might have. Please be patient while we work through this process. We miss you all and can’t wait to get back to providing service to all of our patrons!
