LEET—Gloria Rose Leet, formerly of Florence, passed away peacefully at her home in Hanford, Calif., on July 5, 2017, surrounded by her granddaughters Jennifer Donner and Veronica Miller. She was with her family of the heart and her loving dog, Kiki.
Gloria was born to Louis Edward Abbott and Margret Abbott on Aug. 8, 1925, in Stockton, Calif. She was an Honor Roll student at Ceres High School and graduated in 1943.
Gloria married Frederick McBride and was married briefly, until he was killed serving his country during World War II.
She later married Burt Case and they raised two wonderful sons, Patrick and Michael Case.
In 1973, she married Walter Leet. They both retired and spent their time traveling the U.S. in recreational vehicles. They were able to visit and see all 50 states, and made lifelong friends along the way.
After 12 years of traveling, Gloria and Walter settled in Florence, where they were avid volunteers at the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum.
Gloria was also a member of the hospital auxillary, the Siuslaw Lions Club, the Greentrees Village Tuesday Club, and was in fact awarded Volunteer of the Year.
She also served as President of Greentrees.
After Walter’s passing, Gloria moved to Hanford, Calif. She spent time garden- ing, going to bingo and attend- ing NARFE meetings.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husbands: Fredrick McBride, Burt Case and Walter Leet. She was also preceded in death by her sons: Patrick and Michael Case.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Jennifer Donner and Veronica Miller.
Gloria will be remembered as a bright shining light in the various communities she vol- unteered and served in.
She will always be remembered as a great teacher and inspiration to her family and we thank her for all of her wisdom.
