Larry Wade Null Sr.

Larry Wade Null Sr., has gone to Heaven September 12.

NULL—Larry Wade Null Sr. went to heaven September 12, 2022, peacefully in his own home.

Larry was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Jennings, Okla. He was the ninth child of 11 born to Thomas Arthur Null and Russia Sanders Null.

At age 13, he and his family made their way to Avenal, Calif., in 1943.

Larry finished high school at Avenal High in 1948. That summer, he joined the Carpenters Union #2233 Coalinga, Calif., to serve his apprenticeship. Larry was dedicated and committed to improve conditions for his fellow workers. He began his career as a Union Carpenter and was elected as a Union Officer in 1951 at age 21 and eventually held every office in this local.

He went on to become a business agent in 1966 and was then elected as the executive secretary of Sequoia District Council of Carpenters. He served on many other boards and councils within the Union and his community, until he retired in 1989.

Larry was very committed to his brotherhood of Union Carpenters for 41 years. He was awarded the Labor Leader of the year by the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations for which he was very proud. Safe to say, he was a very hard working and committed Union Leader.

Larry was first married to Peggy Null and had two children, Larry W. Null II and Shelly S. Null. He remarried in 1976 to Dorothea Maria Null and three children Martine A. Borges, Jeffrey D. Borges and Jennifer A. E. Lindell. They moved to Sanger, Calif., to restart.

Larry finished his career as a Union Rep and retired in 1989. From there, they moved to Florence, Ore., in 1989 to start his retirement or, if you will, his new career.

He went to work selling real estate for Prudential Real estate. And for about 15 years he helped and enjoyed helping people find their dream property.

Larry has always been a giver and gracious to all who knew him, never hesitating to jump in with his time and money to get someone through a situation. Larry knew no strangers. He had much compassion for the underdog.

He was very dedicated to his church, Cross Road Assembly of God in Florence, his family and Jesus Christ his Savior. He enjoyed being a Gideon member for many years and sharing the Bibles with many. Larry always kept a fresh tool bag and tools for the next young man who walked into his office to join the Carpenters Union.

Larry’s hobbies in life were family, fishing, hunting, friends and building his own homes, among other things. He had built six homes from Avenal to Florence, and he built his last home at age 77 on Munsell Lake in Florence.

We were all blessed to have him as our husband, father, Opa, friend and comrade for so many years. He certainly led a blessed life.

Larry is survived by his wife Dorothea M. Null; his children Larry W. Null and Karen, Shelly S. Null, Martine A. Borges and Monique Michelle, Jeffrey D. Borges and Michele and Jennifer A.E. and Troy Lindell; 10 grandchildren: Madison, Makai, Mckenna, Maxton, Amanda, Paige, Lana, Joshua, Charlie, and Claire; and two great grandchildren: Jonah Wade Campbell and Marcus Wade Borges.
Larry cherished and loved each of his grandchildren
Larry was the last survivor of his 10 siblings.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at: Cross Road Assembly of God Church, 380 10th St., on Nov. 19, at 1 p.m.
