Lane County Public Health announces third positive COVID-19 test result

Lane County Public Health (LCPH) was notified today that an individual tested on March 17 has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the third positive test in Lane County. The resident is a man in his 50s who lives in a private residence in the Eugene-Springfield area. Contact investigations are ongoing, but the individual did have a domestic travel history to an exposure site. He is currently at home, following all LCPH recommendations, and is medically stable.

Individuals who had contact with the community member will be contacted by Lane County Public Health and advised to self-isolate for 14 days after potential exposure.

Symptom onset for this individual began on March 3 with a fever and a productive cough. A test was taken on March 17.

Vulnerable populations and those with health complications should follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations to stay at home.

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, which include a fever of 100.4 F or 38 C or higher and respiratory symptoms like coughing, you are urged to contact your medical provider by phone.  Please do not call 9-1-1 or go into the emergency room without first contacting your medical provider unless you have a medical emergency.
