It was another successful weekend of tournament bowling for the Siuslaw boys and girls bowling teams, with the Viking boys rolling at home while the Lady Vikings were on the road in North Bend.
At home, Siuslaw again made the finals by finishing in first place during the qualifying round. The Vikings won the first match, defeating Willamette to advance to the final match against rival North Bend.
The Bulldogs came out strong, winning the first in the two-game match. Even though the Vikings came back to win the second game, the first-game deficit was too much to overcome finishing second with North Bend taking first.
Meanwhile, the Lady Vikings competed at North Bend in search of their fifth-straight tournament title.
Because coach Dusty Anderson needed to remain at Holiday Bowl to run the boys’ tournament, he relied on new assistant coach Alan Medeiros to helm the coaching duties for the Lady Vikings. The team easily made the finals after finishing first in qualifying round. Advancing to the first match of finals, Siuslaw defeated North Bend to face Cottage Grove in the title match.
With a 12-pin deficit after the first game, the Lady Viks rallied in the second game to keep their winning momentum by claiming their fifth-consecutive tournament championship.
Sunday, the Viking boys will be at North Bend to try to avenge their second-place finish at home to the Bulldogs.
The Lady Vikings will travel to Cottage Grove, trying to continue their winning streak by defeating the Lions
