May 19, 2019 — Kelly Laurel Wright, 36, of Florence, passed away May 11, 2019, at PeaceHealth-RiverBend Hospital after a short illness.
Kelly was born Sept. 8, 1982, in Portsmouth, Va. She moved with her family to San Diego, Calif., in 1985 and lived there until 2004, when she moved to Lemoore, Calif., to be closer to family.
Kelly moved with her daughter to Florence, Ore. in 2017, again to be closer to family.
Growing up in the San Diego area, Kelly attended Freese Elementary, San Altos Elementary, Lemon Grove Middle and graduated from Mt. Miguel High in 2000. Kelly took a number of classes at several community colleges and business schools and attained advanced business certifications for administrative work.
She worked several different jobs over the years. For the last two years she was a receptionist at Oceanside Veterinary in Florence, a job she always called her dream job. She dearly loved animals and was thrilled to work with them.
A talented musician, Kelly started playing the flute in fourth grade. She learned the bassoon in middle school and played it in her middle and high school orchestras. She continued playing the flute in marching band throughout middle and high school.
She also learned to play piccolo, bass clarinet and piano. Kelly also had a beautiful singing voice.
Kelly will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Alison, 4; her parents Cynthia J. and Joe; her brother Matt (Lindsey); grandmother Alice; and many cousins, aunts and uncles and friends.
A memorial service was held for Kelly on May 15 at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw in Florence.
Another memorial service will be held in San Diego, Calif., on a date yet to be determined.
