Kathleen “Kitty” Ellen Halverson, 78, passed away Feb. 1, 2023. The oldest of three children. She was born on July 24, 1944, in Utica, Mich., to Joseph and Joyce Parrot. In 1962, she graduated high school in Michigan.

She married Carl Obert Halverson in Minnesota in 1964. The couple moved from Fargo, N.D. to Mapleton, Ore., in 1972 to raise their five children together.

She held many jobs over the years and was always proud of her hard work. After a career in cooking, she began her career as a USPS postmaster. She retired from the Mapleton Post Office in 2022. Always serving her community, she loved volunteering at the Mapleton Lions Club for many years cooking food and serving to the Lion’s members and the community.

She also enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, playing cribbage and bowling in her free time.

She is survived by her son, Michael Halverson of Walton; daughter Joyce (David) Dalbeck of Dunes City; son Casey (Janine) Halverson of Mapleton; sister Cherie (Charley) Thomas of Michigan; brother Rick Parrott of Florida; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, along with lots of friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Halverson; son Lawrence Halverson; and daughter Karla Halverson.

She will be missed by many people who love her. May she rest easy now, her work is done.
