Aug. 29, 2018 — Kathleen Aitken, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Aug. 10, 2018.
Her life was devoted to sharing loving kindness and she touched so many lives with her big smile, beautiful long hair and enthusiastic hugs.
Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Richard “Bear” Aitken, who often livened up Old Town Florence with his guitar and smooth voice.
Kathleen adored her sons: David and Anthony, and her grandchildren, Brandon and Josephine.
Kathleen worked as an elementary school librarian in Lake Arrowhead, Calif., for more than 10 years prior to moving to Florence, where she became an electrical engineer for Central Lincoln PUD.
She was a petite dynamo that gave her all to her work and her crews and her neighbors for over 20 years: chainsaw in hand cutting through storm debris.
Kathleen was an intelligent, passionate, friendly person who knew the simple joys of sitting cozy by the fire with a good book, hiking in the forest, kayaking on the lake, or joining a group of friends in laughter.
She was a gentle and generous friend, always willing to encourage and comfort. Her life ended too soon, and she will be sorely missed by all her knew and loved her.
There will be a celebration of Kathleen’s life Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Woahink Lake Yurt in Florence from 1 to 4 p.m.
