Oct. 6, 2018 — Julianne Underwood, 89, passed away at home from pancreatic cancer.
Julie was born in Oregon City to William and Christine Stone. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Rex J. Underwood.
Julie is survived by her daughter, Tina Heard (Geoff); son Paul (Gwen) Underwood; grandchildren Kevin Heard and Megan Sadler (Chris); and nephew Bob Stone.
Julie and Rex met through their love of music (cello and violin) and it remained a life-long endeavor of love, as was their passion for world travel. She received her bachelor of music from Marylhurst College.
Julie was a member of the music fraternity/sorority Mu Phi Epsilon, as well as numerous other musical associations. In her later years, Julie was active in the DAR and the Mapleton Garden Club.
Julie’s pride and joy was the garden park she created out of acreage originally overgrown with Siuslaw River blackberry bushes. She was a vivacious, unique woman who made friends with people from all walks of life. Being socially gregarious, she invited all she met to visit her home and garden.
Julie’s family would like to thank all of her close friends, neighbors and community for their continuing care and support during her illness.
Also, thank you to Peace Harbor Hospice, the New Horizons care giving team and the fellowship of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, beginning at 11 a.m.
Remembrances can be made to St. Andrews Church or to the charity of your choice.
Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
