Jan. 5, 2019 — Joyce Ann Ternyik, 81, of Florence, passed away early Thansgiving morning, Nov. 22, 2018.
She was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Pueblo, Colo., to Arthur and Virginia Miller.
She married Wilbur E. Ternyik on Sept. 6, 1962. They were married for 56 years and rasied five children together.
Joyce was very dedicated to her husband and worked alongside Wilbur throughout his many endeavors, including their business Wave Beach Grass Nursery.
She was a stay-at-home mother for all of her five children and counted those years as the happiest of her life. She was a wonderful grandmother, lovingly known as “Grandma Joy,” who spent so many precious moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Being a woman of faith, she was often in prayer for her family, friends and anyone in need. Her sweet smile, tender heart and loving encouragement will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wilbur; her son Michael; and her granddaughter Natasha.
She is survived by her son Bill Vermilyea and wife Kathy; her daughter Patti Mead and husband Bill; her daughter Kathi Smith and husband Jim; her son Matt Ternyik and wife Wendi; her daughter-in-law Crystal Ternyik; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m., at the New Life Lutheran Church, 2100 Spruce St. in Florence.
