July 17, 2019 — John Sanchez was born Dec. 9, 1939, and passed on July 5, 2019, with his wife Rikie by his side.
If you were fortunate to have met John, you gained a friend for life.
John entered the Air Force as a teenager and spent four years serving his country.
He was the beloved “Feed Store Man” of Harris Feed and Seed in Florence for over 25 years.
John was the proprietor of Washington D.C.’s first stand up bar. He loved the ponies, so much that he bought his own racehorse which ended up in the Winner’s Circle.
John was also known as a “Blueberry Pancake Aficionado” by his grandkids, where eating 32 pancakes was not uncommon — kid-sized, of course.
We will forever love and miss him.
John is survived by his wife, Rikie. They spent 47 beautiful years together; his children: son Casey Harris (April) of Florence, daughter Margaret Nadine Sanchez Tercero of Monrovia, Md., son Piper Harris of Florence and daughter Denise Arlene Gay of Clover, Ga.; grandchildren: Sierra Harris, Amber Harris, Cheyenne Harris, Casey Harris Jr., Dylan Wills, Rafael Dean Sanchez Tercero and Nicholas Connor Sanchez Tercero, both of Broadlands, Va.; and great-grandchildren Grayson and Brynlee.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
