Nov. 29, 2017 — John Avit Anthony, 82, of Florence, passed away Nov. 15, 2017.
Born Oct. 16, 1935, John grew up on a homestead family farm in Ellensburg, Wash., with his parents and two sisters. As a young man, he left the farm for Seattle to become a pharmacist at the UW School of Pharmacy.
As a proud Husky, he enjoyed a 40-year career in both Washington and Oregon, until retiring along the Oregon Coast. John was rarely seen without a University of Washington baseball cap on, and was an equally avid Seattle Mariners fan.
John is survived by his best friend and wife of over 51 years, Darleen.
Throughout their long marriage, Yellowstone National Park was a favorite travel destination and they were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage last summer by renewing their vows alongside the Yellowstone River with family.
John will be remembered as a kind and caring man whose wife, children, many grandchildren, and dog meant the world to him.
Despite recent health challenges, his wit, good charm and positive attitude never diminished, always “game” for whatever adventure his family threw at him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Medic One Foundation, 11747 NE 1st St, Suite 310, Bellevue, Wash., 98005.
