Dec. 31, 2021 — On Dec. 28, Homegrown Public House hosted the Siuslaw Football Championship Celebration to honor the team’s win in the Oregon 3A state championship on Nov. 27.

The event was standing-room only as the Homegrown kitchen made more than 40 burgers for the team and their families.

Homegrown owner Elaine McMillan welcomed the team by saying, “Scott and I are also Siuslaw alumni and are so proud of you and the work you have accomplished.”

Local musician Denny Weaver shared stories of his career as a Siuslaw quarterback in 1969 during the event.

“Many of the team have played together since they were young boys,” McMillan said. “Early on, they knew this team was magic.”

Throughout the football season, the community, restaurants and businesses rallied around the team to cheer them on. This continued after the big win as Dutch Bros., The Pono Hukilau, Three Rivers Casino Resort and more helped the team “Ring in the Season” by donating so each player can get a championship ring.
