HERRING—Ruth “Eileen” Herring, 81, of Bremerton, Wash., passed away on March 21, 2017, with family by her side.
Eileen was born in Oregon City, Ore., in 1935. She was the oldest of four children born to Clyde and Avanell Miller. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1953 and Eugene Beauty College in 1954.
Eileen had a passion for reading, canning, sewing and needlework. She enjoyed researching her genealogy and helping to plan the yearly family reunions.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Ion O. Herring; her daughter, Debbie Whaley; and her grandson, Jason Whaley.
She is survived by one brother, Raymond Miller, of Husum, Wash.; son William Taylor of Olalla, Wash.; daughters Sandy Reifschneider and Corina Herring, of Port Orchard, Wash.; daughter Evelyn Davis of Gig Harbor, Wash.; daughter Lucy Gibson of Newport, Ore.; and son Peter Herring of Denver, Colo..
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Memorial services will be held April 15, at 1 p.m., at Lane Memorial Gardens Chapel in Eugene.
