SETZER—Harold (Hal) L. Setzer died on May 17, 2022. He leaves behind his loving wife of seven years, Lynne Kayser, and children Katrina, Andrew and Joel Setzer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon.

Harold was born April 20, 1936, and grew up in Prospect, Ore. He was the oldest of four adventurous brothers.

He loved fishing and camping and filled the family's freezer with fish. In high school, he played team sports, got mostly A's and was in the senior play.

At 17, he signed up for three years in the US Marines, where he specialized in radios and communication. Taking advantage of the GI Bill, he went to university, graduating from University of Oregon with a BS in Engineering and Business. He was a huge "Duck” fan.

In college, Hal met and married his wife, Sharon. They moved to Pendleton, Ore., where he was very active in the Jaycee's and was “Young Man of the Year."

He and his family moved frequently, “every five years," to Portland, San Diego, Washington and more as Hal worked for various engineering firms.

Hal and Sharon retired in 2000 and settled in Florence, Ore., where they lived near Siltcoos Lake. Sadly, the family lost Sharon in 2008.

A year later, Hal met Lynne at the Florence Elks Lodge and they married in 2015. After just four years, Hal showed signs of dementia and began a three-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Harold was a well-loved, kind man with a great sense of humor. He is greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be held this summer. His family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
