June 1, 2019 — George Paul Rodet, 46, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away on May 27, 2019.
He was born to Dana and Debbie Rodet on June 1, 1972.
His brother, Andrew William Rodet, was born Jan. 8, 1974.
His parents moved with George and Andy to Florence in 1984, and began the Rodet Construction Company.
His summers were spent apprenticing with his father in construction. Following graduation in 1991 from Siuslaw High School, George became a construction contractor, working alongside his father with Rodet Construction.
Following his father’s retirement, he joined AWR Construction to continue the family legacy of carpentry excellence with his brother.
George married Rebecca (Medlock) Rodet 25 years ago. They raised two beautiful daughters — Courtney Paige Rodet, attending Oregon State University, and Hannah Jewel Rodet, attending Dickson University in North Dakota.
George had a giving heart. He loved volunteering in the community, using his hands, creating and building theater sets, as well as performing in some of the plays. Most recently, he was Santa Claus in A Christmas Story.
His roofing skills were highly appreciated when building homes with Habitat for Humanity.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and served as counselor of the young men for many years.
George was happiest when near a body of water. He loved the beach and scavenging for shells and rocks. He and his cousins living in California adventured on the beaches there, boogie boarding, surfing and building sandcastles.
George will be remembered as a man dedicated to his community, friends and family. He was selfless, humble and kind-hearted.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints on Sunday, June 2, beginning at 3 p.m.
The church is located at 2705 Munsel Lake Road in Florence. All are invited to join the family for light refreshments following the service.
