Gary (Pete) Michael Peterson

After a 14-year battle with cancer, Gary (Pete) Michael Peterson passed peacefully July 20, 2023, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Gary was born September 16, 1951, in Portland, OR to Morris and Vivian Peterson. He was the 3rd child of six and the first son. Gary grew up in Milwaukie, OR and graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1969. After high school he moved to Florence and went to work at Foglio Trucking Company driving log truck. Through the years he worked for a variety of local companies, driving log truck, chip truck, he was a cutter for a logging company and operated excavation equipment. After a short courtship he married a local girl, Debbie Gray, November 29, 1975. Together they had three children and 7 grandchildren. All of which he was very proud. Spending time with family and playing with the grandkids was the highlight of his life.

Kids have said that if dad can't fix it.... well, it just can't be fixed. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being outdoors. Later his passion was woodworking.

Memories never forgotten is grandpa chasing his grandkids around the kitchen island, (Get me grandpa, get me!), tickles until everyone in the room was laughing with tears, and making Donald Duck sounds.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Karen and Sherrie. He is survived by his wife Debbie, his children; Brian (Lindsey) Peterson, Derek Peterson, and Jennifer (Bill Passmore) Cooper, his grandchildren; Brady, Kellan, Harper, Justin, Ceanna, Devin, and Sawyer. He is also survived by his sister Diane Flansburg, and brothers Ron (Kathy)Peterson and Jeff (Leslie) Peterson.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Peterson residence, Saturday, August 19 from 1:00 to 4:00. Please join us in celebrating his life.
