Oct. 21, 2020 — The Knights of Columbus gave out food boxes in Florence and Mapleton on Saturday as part of a program by their Archdiocese. The boxes contained a variety of produce/fruits, dairy, milk and meat.
“The program was greatly appreciated by the drive through recipients,” said Pat Beckham.
The Knights of Columbus organized the effort to provide relief to people adversely affected by the Oregon Wildfires and the coronavirus. The Knights of Columbus Food Box donations supported the local community and its two parishes, St. Mary’s Our Lady of the Dunes Catholic Church in Florence and St. John’s in Reedsport.
“A sincere thank you to the great volunteer turnout, including some of the Knights’ wives and other parishioners,” Beckham said.
Donations were also given to the Florence Baptist Church for help with its homeless ministry.
In Florence, food boxes will be again be available Saturdays Oct. 24 and 31 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 85060 Highway 101, from 1 to 3 p.m.
In Mapleton, food boxes will be given out the same days at Mapleton Food Share, 10718 Highway 126, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
