City of Florence treats community

Sept. 13, 2022 — On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the City of Florence treated the community to a Back to School BBQ.

This event, held at Miller Park, included burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, soda and ice cream along with games like corn hole and ladder ball.

The BBQ was to celebrate the return to school for Florence children and their teachers, most of whom had their first day on the day of the BBQ or the day before.

Mayor Joe Henry was serving his city at the grill for what could be his last BBQ as the city’s figurehead. His term will end after the election in November. Throughout his time leading Florence, people could find the mayor flipping burgers and dogs at city hosted events.
