Florence Elaine Emerson, also known as Cookie, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023, at the age of 86, in Veneta, Oregon. She was born on March 10, 1937, in Effie, Minnesota Itasca County. Cookie was fiercely stubborn and independent, but her true passion in life was her love for her family and friends. She had a deep af-fection for animals, which devel-oped early on when she had baby bears and badgers as pets. Cookie was grateful to have been raised in a time when hard work, hand-washing clothes, and tending to a garden were the norm. Despite her small stature, she never shied away from any task and had an unwavering work ethic. Cookie is survived by numer-ous nieces, nephews, and friends who became like family to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, 14 siblings, her husband Robert Emerson, and her son Bruce. Cookie attended Effie/Bigfork Primary School and later gradu-ated from Mapleton High School. Throughout her life, Cookie held various roles, including mill-worker, processing plant worker, housekeeper, college student, and caregiver. She dedicated herself to these professions with diligence and commitment. Cookie was a member of Olivet Baptist Church, where she found solace and strength. Her main hobby was keeping her family and friends close and connected, which brought her immense joy. A celebration of Cookie’s life will be held on September 16, 2023, at 2pm at Olivet Baptist Church located at 88150 2nd Street, Veneta, Oregon 97487. In lieu of flowers, the family re-quests that contributions be made to Olivet Baptist Church.
