Barbara Jean Filipowicz, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Portland, Ore., while surrounded by her husband and children following a brief illness.
Barbara was born on May 9, 1926, in Calais, Maine, the daughter of David and Sadie Anderson (Kelley).
She was raised in Calais but moved to Manchester, N.H., to pursue work. This is where she met the love of her life, Charlie, on a blind date in December of 1950.
They married in September of 1952 and moved to the Southern California area in January of 1957, raising four children.
In 1990, Barbara retired from First Interstate Bank, where she had worked as a mortgage loan processor.
Barbara and Charlie then moved to the coastal town of Florence, where they happily lived for 22 years. She loved to collect small rocks from the beach.
She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Charles; her son Stephen and his wife Sharon; son John and his companion Stephanie; daughter Christina and her husband Larry Collings; daughter Regina; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; many friends in Florence and at her retirement home for the last three years, The Courtyard at Mt. Tabor in Portland.
She will truly be missed.
Services will be held at St Ignatius Catholic Church on April 25, at 10 a.m.
Barbara will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery.
