Jan. 22, 2020 — Emily Elizabeth “Dea” Cutting (Deathe) passed away the morning of Dec. 5, 2019; she will be a brilliant addition to Heaven.
Emily was born to Melvin and Paloma Deathe on Aug. 10, 1932, in California. She was adored by her two sisters, Bernice and Paloma
Emily joined the U.S. Marine Corps. after graduation. Emily married Richard Cutting on Sept. 21, 1956.
Together, they owned a Shell gas station in Goldfield, Nev.
They soon moved back to their hometown of Castro Valley, where they started a family before moving to Oregon in 1968. Emily and Richard settled in Florence in 1989.
Emily moved to Shorewood Senior Living after Richard passed away in 2002. Her lively spirit was appreciated and loved by the many friends she made there.
Together, Emily and Richard have three children: Timothy Cutting, who lives in Florence with his wife Maria; Lorelei Kryzanek, who lives in Bend, Ore.; and Ruby Starr, who lives in Pflugerville, Texas with her husband Thomas. She also has 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Emily enjoyed many long talks with all of her family. She always had a beautiful smile and always saw the bright side of everything. She cheered up every room she was in and every person she spoke to. She loved being a part of the Siuslaw Toastmasters and received accolades for her speeches and participation.
Emily was a volunteer for several organizations, working with the Scouts for several years. She was an active participant in political and other campaigns.
She was a powerful spirit in a physical body.
Her family is sure that her spirit now resides in an eternal place with beauty and she is surely brightening up all her friends and family from there.
