FIELDSON—Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Fieldson passed away peacefully on March 29, 2022. She was at home with her son, Sam Lemly, and April Lemly, her granddaughter.
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Miller was born on Sept. 14, 1924, in Aitken, Minn. Her parents were Otto and Selma Miller. Betty was the youngest of five, with three sisters and one brother. As a teen, she excelled in the high school band as a trumpet player.
In 1940 Betty left Minnesota with her sister Laverne to pursue a life in Southern California. A real “Rosie the Riveter,” she worked at Douglas Aircraft, where she eventually met her husband Sam Lemly Sr. In 1945. Betty gave birth to her son, Samuel John.
In the 1950s, she enjoyed a long successful career as a bookkeeper for Hughes market. Betty always enjoyed playing cards with her sister and hosting parties.
Betty married Charles “Chuck” Fieldson in 1964. During her retirement, Betty and Chuck traveled the US, eventually owning motels. The motels were in: Libby, Mont., Weezer, Idaho, and Medford and Florence, Ore. They settled in Florence and lived in Florentine Gardens.
Betty loved to travel. From the British Isles and Canada to China, plus Poland, Portugal, Egypt and Cape Horn, she completely enjoyed seeing the world. Betty was a longtime member of the benevolent group in Florence, the Friendship Club.
